Recently, Apple has released iOS 5.0.1 update for download to all users worldwide. This minor update should have fixed a number of issues in the operating system, the most important being the iPhone battery issues. Shortly after the release of iOS 5.0.1, many consumers have reported serious iPhone 4S battery problems as the update has only made it worse.
The public’s outcry has forced Apple to work at a another fix that will probably become available soon. The iPhone battery life issues don’t affect all the users, but even so, Apple needs to take care of all its fans. Before upgrading, most iPhone 4S owners haven’t reported any problems with the battery, but after installing iOS 5.0.1 many of them said that this update drains battery like “crazy.”
Lots of our readers have reported problems after upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 and it’s not like they can hold themselves from updating their smartphones. Sources in Germany say that iOS 5.0.2 is coming soon in order to fix these issues once and for all.
Macerkopf reports that Apple has a clear target for the iPhone 4S battery life: it needs to be up for two days consisting of 10 hours of heavy usage and 40 hours in standby mode. It will be hard to accomplish this goal considering the fact that the company has added lots of new features in iOS 5 and they drain the battery. Maybe the problem is that the battery is too small and Apple needs to optimize iOS better.
The iOS 5.0.2 release date should be by the end of next week, while the next major upgrade will become available by the end of the year. iOS 5.1 is in the works as well, and it should bring improved Siri voice control support.
The iPhone 4S’ personal assistant will provide even more answers for the users and more functionality. Siri will be able to turn on and off WiFi and Bluetooth, take photos and shoot videos. These features would be welcomed by the users, but first of all, Apple needs to address the battery life issues on its flagship smartphone.
Apple hasn’t officially acknowledged the issues in the 5.0.1 build so at the moment the release of an update remains at the rumor stage. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if the company would release the aforementioned upgrade so stay tuned cause we’re going to deliver the good news as they happen.
